In 2010 and 2011, Belgium went through a political crisis that threatened its existence. Whereas some politicians were working to split the country in two – into a Dutch-speaking Flemish part and a French-speaking Wallon part – the people aspired to keeping their country just as they’ve always known it: in one piece!

In this film, French, Dutch and even German-speaking Belgians (since, Belgium actually has three official languages – the third being German), speak their visions and wishes for the country in the language of their fellow citizens.

This video was made for a video installation for the 2011 edition of the Checkpoint Festival, Brussels.
